Guangdong Dapeng LNG Receives 100th Cargo at Terminal

September 16, 2008, Shenzhen - Guangdong Dapeng LNG Company (GDLNG) received the 100th cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) at its Dapeng Bay Terminal, carried by Dapeng Sun. The project received its first cargo in May, 2006 from Australia’s North West Shelf project. To date, this China’s pilot LNG import project has received a cumulative volume of 6.09 million tons of LNG, which dominates the total supply of LNG in Guangdong province.

Against the current world economic landscape, a steady energy supply becomes the cornerstone to the sustainable economic development in any region. Natural gas is a safe, clean and reliable supply of energy. It plays a vital role in the energy structure in the Pearl River Delta area.

As the first import LNG project in China, GDLNG is being supplied by a 25 year LNG contract with Australia’s Northwest Shelf project. “Making sure the ongoing timely and safe receipt of LNG cargoes is one of the foremost tasks”, says Thomas M. King, President of GDLNG. The 2008 daily average delivery of natural gas is roughly 12 million cubic meters, providing strong support to the rapidly growing needs of our customers, mainly city gas companies and power plants. The arrival and discharge of the 100th LNG cargo marks another important step for GDLNG and Guangdong Province.
