GDLNG received the first cargo of LNG from Qatar and unloaded successfully on Oct.19, 2009. The Qatar First LNG Cargo Receiving Ceremony was held in GDLNG terminal on Oct.19, 2009 in which Wang Yang, Party Secretary of Guangdong province and member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee, announced the success of receiving first Qatar LNG cargo.

This is the first LNG cargo from Qatar after the long-term supply agreement signed between CNOOC and Qatar Gas. The 216,000 cubic meters cargo was uploaded at Ras Laffan, Qatar and shipped by a Q-Flex LNG ship "Al Ghariya". It is China’s first time to receive ultra-large type of LNG cargo which marks the milestone for GDLNG terminal that is capable of receiving the biggest and the most advanced LNG ship, signifying the LNG industry of China has enter the new era.
