LNG stands for liquefied natural gas being cooled to -162ºC. The main component of natural gas is methane. Methane is colorless, odorless, non-toxic and non-corrosive under atmospheric pressure. LNG can be transported in specially-designed tank and input into regas terminal. After liquefaction, the volumn of LNG is reduced to about 1/600th-650th of its original volume, which enables long-distance transportation and bulk storage.

Natural gas is widely regarded as clean and environmentally-friendly energy. Under atmospheric pressure, methane is colorless, odorless, non-toxic and non-corrosive. When burning, it produces fewer emissions of key pollutants such as SO2, NOx and particulates than other fuel sources.

Moreover, Sulphur is almost entirely removed in the liquefaction process. Combustion of regasified LNG emits negligible amounts of sulphur dioxide. If released to the atmosphere, environmentally-friendly LNG will evaporate and disperse quickly.

Today, there are globally 284 LNG storage tanks and 59 vaporization and re-gasification terminals operating safely. For more than 40 years the LNG industry has had an enviable safety record. LNG is transported by specially designed carriers, which ensures safe and reliable transportation. LNG is non-toxic and non-corrosive. If released, LNG will evaporate and disperse quickly into the atmosphere, making it less harmful to the marine ecosystem and atmospheric environment.
